Pearl
Pearls are hard, round shaped objects created within the soft tissue of a mollusk. Most types of mollusks do not produce desirable Pearls. The ones that do have shell linings commonly known as "mother of pearl". Natural pearls are made entirely of this substance. Pearls are created when an irritant enters the mollusks body, it is the animals attempt to seal off the irritation. When pearls are cultured by humans, this irritant is artifically created, in the wild is is often the result of a parasite or damage. Rarely is the irritant a piece of sand, which is a common belief. The color is usually white or cream, but can also be black, grey, pinkish, yellowish and bluish.
